Boxing: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas!

This coming weekend, WBC/IBF World Champion Errol Spence Jr. will face WBA Champion Yordenis Ugas.  But before that welterweight unification, 32-year-old Spence Jr. seems to have a different goal in mind.

Boxing: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas!

It will be about three world titles when the two welterweight champions Errol Spence Jr. (WBC, IBF) and Yordenis Ugas (WBA) face each other on Saturday night.  The unification fight will take place in Arlington, Texas;  A home game for the Texan Errol Spence Jr.!

In addition to the home advantage, the role of favorites also seems to be on the side of the previously unbeaten southpaw.  Spence Jr. almost got the impression over the past week that the upcoming duel against Yordenis Ugas (Cuba) means nothing more than a kind of "stopover" for him.

At the first joint press conference, Errol Spence Jr. emphasized that he had the greatest respect for his soon-to-be adversary - but the focus was something else!  Spence Jr.: "Beating Ugas puts me one step closer to fighting Terence Crawford.  I want to unite all world championship belts.  In the end there will only be one - and I assume it will be me!"

Should Errol Spence Jr. win the unification bout against Manny Pacquiao conqueror Yordenis Ugas, he would be in possession of three world championship belts.  The only thing missing for “sovereignty” would be the WBO belt, which Terence Crawford has been able to call his own since June 2018.
