UFC 264: McGregor vs Poirier

Conor McGregor plans to give Dustin Poirier exactly what he wants in their duel in the UFC 264 trilogy.

McGregor vs Poirier

Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) recently said McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) "smells unsafe" after the former UFC two-division champion made a comment challenging his opponent to avoid takedown shots when headlining Saturday.

This was not to the liking of McGregor, who said he was ready and willing to compete with Poirier in all areas when they meet for the third and probably last time at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.  The fight will air on a pay-per-view show following teasers on ESPN and ESPN +.

"(I'm going to) hit him over the head," McGregor said during an interview on Instagram Live on Saturday.  “A lot of weapons will be produced overnight, that's for sure.  Do you want mixed martial arts?  He will get it.

“I was busy with work.  Total focus, total immersion in mixed martial arts.  It was just mixed martial arts, so I'm ready to put on a show. "

McGregor insists that he is sincere when he talks about his level of commitment to this fight.  After being defeated by a second round TKO Poirier during his second meeting at UFC 257 in January, UFC President Dana White questioned how committed McGregor could be when he was so financially successful and had already accomplished so much in a fighting game.
